Recycling my Old Dead Kit lens

My Canon 28-90 mm f4 kit lens was never been used after it gets an Err 99,

after couple of years, I decided to open and see what's inside, I found out that the wire flex was dislocated or cut, I figured out that the reason was because of rapid / multiple zoom rotations.

I don't know how much the Flex will cost and I don't want to spent money for the Old Kit lens to work again. so I decided to convert it into a Manual lens.

I removed the parts and the motor, and specially the golden connector from the lens to the camera.

(because you will get an err 1)

The reason I'm sharing this. is that I see lots of people selling there dead kit lenses because it's unusable, and some are junking it or spending money for a Cheap lens..

so why converting it into Manual lens to enable to reuse it!.
